Hi Everyone, I know it's a first post, but after Googling / Searching the forum here I'm lost and I decided to open up this topic. Maybe I was using the wrong key words, so if my question has been asked in the past and I did not use the right key words, please give me some pointers cause I'm really lost. Current situation is that to 'upgrade' our home security we decided to get some camera's around the house. As all of the network equipment is from Ubiquiti the choice was easy (also I got a steep discount while buying some other IT hardware). So I got myself 3 UVC G3 Camera's. The big choice was getting either a NVR from Ubiquiti or the Synology Surveillance Station. The sales repp told me that the Synology Surveillance Station would work with the Camera's and that I could also use the Synology for other fun stuff and even hook it up to my Chromecast for streaming video's. At this time everything looked fine in paradise. So once I arrived home with all my goodies, I mounted the first cam on the drive way, hooked it up, turned the POE on login to the IP and ' Houston, we have a live feed'. Feeling mighty confident it was time to move to the next phase. ![]() Unboxing my Synology 216 play and hooking up the WD-Red 2TB Nas Drive. (I wanted 2, but they only had one in stock). So connecting the Synology to the network it quickly came alive and gave me the 'Beeb' of live. Back behind the old trusty desktop I installed the latest Synology OS. This is easy.) DSM 6.1.3-15152 Update 4. Then all the Apps wanted so good old TLC. So I let the software do it's thing. Have a nice cup of tea. So, now time to hook up the Camera in the Synology Surveillance Station and this is the point were trouble happend in Paradise. I already read on the interweb that to setup a G3 camera one must lower their settings to a bitrate of 1500 and the FPS to 15 to first setup the cam. And all looks well. I could even update the settings that the Bitrate is back up to 6000 and the FPS back up to 30. ![]() Yet for some reason the quality is just lacking. If I login in to the camera directly I get a really nice and clean image. Yet once I go into the Synology Surveillance Station it feels like I am watching an old Videorecorder Tape that has been used one to many times. I know, we all love the 80's. But this is not what I had in mind for security measures. So I let this setup run for a day and night. But the recordings we're useless and the DS CAM would not let me stream live when I was at the office. Introduction Thank you for purchasing the Ubiquiti Networks® UniFi® AP.
